E.M.T. HORSES

Here are a few of the horses we are currently working with.

"WINK" ("Foxboro Wink At Me")

This Wanninger/Cantata mare has great potential but we would say she is an event horse in the making, but of coure that ultimate decision lies with her owner.

Typical of her dam line, Wink is somewhat opinionated and needs time to undersatnd what is being asked of her but her ind clicks in she is very forward.

Wink has grown in the few weeks she has been with us but it is preferred that she now stops as she is plenty big enough!

"PEPPER"

This delightful lttle gelding is with us because his owner was becoming increasingly concerned by his demeanour - unhappy, sour, napping, etc. Despite saddle checks and chiropractice visits she could not get to the botttom of what was troubling Pepper.

We discovered that Pepper had various chiropractic issues including a raised rib, myofascaial adhesion, extreme tightness to the hamstrings, damage to the atloaxia area and a misaligned jaw.

Check back soon to see how Pepper is getting on.

"BRUFF" "Bruff Academy")

This "Beneficial" gelding has much presence, but also a strong character to go with it. Initial observations as to his erractic behaviour suggested pain related issues as he has fartured his pelvis whislt in training. A considerable amount of rehab work is required after these injuries so that scar tissue doesn't restrict movement etc.

Bruff is behing thermal imaged to examine exactly what is going on before we commence his retraining proper.

Check back to see what the findings are.

"OSCAR" ("Call Oscar")

calloscar

"Oscar" is an ex-racehorse currently being retrained as a riding horse following a tendon injury and a rest period at Hollesley Bay. He shows a great jumping ability and moves well so at the moment our options are open.

With a superb temperament, although he does get very tense, "Oscar" is a lovely big-upstanding horse and another typical of his "Oscar" breedlines.

"Oscar" has featured in numerous articles including a long-reinig feature for "Your Horse".

"PEANUT" ("West Life")

Patience has paid off with Peanut; he has taken a long time to settle and grow in confidence but he is typical of his breed line: Florencio/Florestan I.

The waiting time has also seen him mature physically; now he is much stronger and has more strength behind, Peanut is able to push his front end away; previously he was very restricted through the shoulder, but he now has a true medium trot.

We are very excited about what the future could hold!

"DORA"

What a wonderful mare to work with; Dora is an absolute delight! She is a very workmanlike mare and although she is on a steep learning curve, just wants to get on with the job and please.

As an ex-racehorse that has been in training longer than most, then she needs more time to adjust and learn a new set of rules, but she is making excellent progress despite as some stage of her racing career suffered a rotational fall as evidenced by changes to the lumbar/pelvic area.

"Paisley" ("Lindhurst Robello")

This Warmblood x gelding is just 3 years old.

In the short time we have had himPaisley has already changed so much; this photo has been taken exactly one month into his training sois can be seen he is developing well.

From being a vee unsure, tentative lttle chap, Paisley is coming out of his shell and a wonderful cheeky character is developing. He is also showing good ability over a jump.

Looking forward to getting him going unde saddle.

"CHARLI" ("Champagne Charli")

"ROCKY" ("Rock Salmon")

Rocky came back with us for a third time to be prepared for his return into Nationl Hunt training having suffered a tendon injury whilst on the gallops in in the Autumn of last year.

After having almost a year of grass rest and then several weeks of roadwork, his scan results were excellent to he went back into training.

He is currently with Lucy Wadham in Newmarket and was only just beaten into 3rd place at Lingfield on 30th March 2011.

"VINNIE"

Vinnie

Vinnie has been backed and has just come back in to work following a period of turn-out. Like his half brother above Vinnie is going into training. That is the wonderful aspect of life here - seeing horses at both ends of the racing spectrum as well as working with horses for other equestrian sports.

Vinnie has needed a long time to develop physically but he is a chaser in the making.

He will go into training with Alex Hales.

"BOMBIE" ("Light the Fuse")

Bombie is an ex-national hunt racehorse.

This horse is proof that with the correct training horses can overcome many injuries and still be able to learn new skills.

Now 19 years of age Bombie lives up to his name (hardly surprising as his sire was "Electric" and his dam" Celtic Bombshell" ("Celtic Cone"). Such is his character that he had to be re-broken twice following injury lay-offs!

Bombie continues to be joy to work with.

"OSCAR" ("Whinny Tou")

0scar

Horses don't come kinder in nature than "Oscar"; he speaks volume for his Whinny Jackson/ Wolfgang breedline.

Sadly "Oscar" lost his way a little and demonstrated some unfavourable. However He he found his way to us and after many months of very patient work Oscar is once again a relaxed and happy horse.

Such a gent we bought a half share in him. Down the line, we bought his co-owner out.

Oscar has a home for life with us.

"BO
("Mr. Bojangles")

bojangles

Since coming out of National Hunting Bo has racked up 305 BD points and regularly qualified for Regional Finals and the Nationals; he was also very successful at dressage to music. Bo was based with Paul Hayler for a while where he competed AM.

Although now retired from dressage Bo has no plans to take it easy - his enthusiasm for jumping being second to none.

Bo features in our forthcoming book in the jumping section.
